Yitzchak (Irv) M. Binik, PhD
After receiving his B.A. in history from New York University and his Bachelor of Hebrew Literature from the Jewish Theological Seminary, Dr. Binik received his M.A. and Ph.D. in clinical psychology/experimental psychopathology from the University of Pennsylvania. His clinical internship was carried out at the Dept. of Psychiatry, Warneford Hospital, University of Oxford, England. Dr. Binik is a fellow of the Canadian Psychological Association and a Diplomate of the American Board of Sexology. He recently was awarded the Canadian Psychological Association prize for distinguished contribution to professional psychology. In addition, he is a member of several scientific societies including the Society for Sex Therapy and Research, the International Society for the Study of Women's Sexuality, the International Academy of Sex Research, and a member of the editorial boards of the Archives of Sexual Behavior and Journal of Psychosomatic Obstetrics and Gynecology. He has published over 100 refereed articles in the areas of health psychology/psychosomatics and sexuality. His major current research interests focus on the measurement, etiology and treatment of recurrent pain during sexual intercourse (e.g. dyspareunia, vulvar vesibulitis and vaginismus).
